Rosa Parks Day

Published: 2024-12-01

‘Rosa Parks Day’ is celebrated twice a year, on 1st December in Ohio and Oregon, which was the date she was arrested, and on 4th February in California and Missouri which was her birthday. Rosa Parks helped to begin the civil rights movement in the United States, when she refused to give up her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. Her actions inspired the leaders of the local black community to organise the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
