World Oral Health Day

World Oral Health Day aims to empower people with the knowledge, tools and confidence to secure good oral health. The World Dental Federation (FDI) have launched a campaign with resources. Use the campaign materials to run your own World Oral Health Day activities and events. The aim is to encourage people to value and take care of their oral health and to make the right decisions to protect it.

The Oral Health Foundation has created a programme called Dental Buddy which provides educational resources for Early Years, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. The British Dental Association has collated a range of oral hygiene resources for both children and adults. You can access the resources for free on their website here.

You can access Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures education materials to encourage children to learn healthy habits on the Colgate website here.

The PSHE Association has produced Dental Health lesson plans and accompanying PowerPoints to support teaching and learning around healthy hygiene routines and understand what daily habits help or harm dental health. The lesson plans and classroom-ready PowerPoints are suitable for KS1 and KS2 come with supporting classroom materials and detailed teacher guidance. They help pupils learn about:

• How diet and everyday actions affect dental health

• Techniques and top tips for cleaning teeth

• Common risks to dental health and strategies to manage them
